IT'S ALL ABOUT HER...Update

Queen of Halloween here....

Suki is now back from the vet clinic and is definitely happier! Her first response to being home was to run to the food dish! I guess animal hospitals have terrible food also!

Why is it that food that's supposed to be good for you...doesn't taste good?

Anyways...Suki was diagnosed with a urinary infection and was given medicine to help cure it. Thankfully I took her in when I did because things could have gotten worse!

Trying to find a natural cure for urinary problems in humans is bad enough...we can help ours by taking mega doses of cranberry juice...etc. I don't think Suki would have like drinking cranberries?

The blood work came back, verifying the vet's diagnosis and added that her levels of sodium was fairly high! The change in her diet is also a low sodium diet...so I did good that way but I now figure the enemy can possibly be Dodge's drinking water!

The cats had stopped drinking out of their water dish, which consisted of a water bottle attached to a bowl, so I started using another bowl placed further away from their food source and they liked that better. This meant me replacing the water constantly but it also gave them fresh water each time and I cleaned it out more often! I had left the bottle system sit there [too lazy] intending to try it again when I noticed that the remaining water had dried up leaving a white grainy residue...it was salty [no...I didn't taste it]! I have found this in some glasses at work that had gone unnoticed and this I tested...it indeed was salty!

So what does one do now? I absolutely hate our bottled water made here in town...too metallic tasting and it is made by using the town water! Have they removed the sodium? There are a few other bottled water manufacturers that I don't mind but are costly in the long run and can you trust how much is REALLY in them?

What can one do to remove the sodium from our water source without boiling the minerals out of it? Hopefully I can figure that one out?

Suki will now have to take medicine for a week and then have to be urine tested again to see if the medicine took? The vet said that I should take a urine sample and bring it in...this way stress won't be added to Suki. My question is...how does one take a sample from a cat? I don't think she'll want to pee in a cup? The vet suggested I put a plastic bag over her litter box and she will pee on it and I can eye dropper it from there???? Can't see her doing that either! Other problem to solve...anyone out there with a suggestion or answer?

I guess I have a week to figure that one out?

All in all...I had a good nights rest last night, as Suki is no longer laying on my face or complaining! Seems the hospital threat is still in her mind!

Medicine taking this morning was okay for the first half of the dose but the second half made her quite mad at me...hopefully she will have forgotten in 12 hrs before I have to give her any more?

Suki will be back soon, reporting on her "take" of the upsetting time in the hospital...

IT'S ALL ABOUT HER

Suki's not here right now to blog...so me, her mommy, has dropped by to let her friends know how she is doing...

NOT WELL!

Seems I've been waving my magic "health wand" in so many other sick animal's directions that there's only a thin trickle left for her?

Six weeks ago [during the heat spell] she was throwing up a lot so I changed her food to a different ph balanced type and all seemed to be well...the throwing up stopped! But it seems not completely? I would find the occasional vomit spot, but there would be signs of hairball crap in them. Some of the food I was giving to her was for hairball problems so I figured that this might be expected? Her energy levels changed from feeling ill to lots of fun times with Thumber. I thought all was well? Seems I might be wrong?

These last few nights, Suki has been acting strange? I will be sound asleep only to be awaken by her leaning the back half her body against my exposed ear? She normally sleeps beside me but never around my face! It was like she was trying to tell me to listen to her tummy? Suki also prefers to be petted only on her head/face...never her stomach but this time she was offering her tummy up for rubbing...just like you would rub your stomach if it was aching? She was very demanding for me to pet her...just like you would comfort a child in pain!

I wasn't sure whether she had been peeing or not...as I have two cats who use the litter box. So I made one especially for Suki to use. Suki's habit has been to make sure that she gets to mark the litter with her scent first and can even be annoying with her jumping in before I am finished filling it. Not this time! She scratched around in it a couple of times but never tried to void either way? My thought was a bladder/bowel blockage...which can be very deadly to any animal! Upon further checking even her nose was warm and dry! Up goes the worry level!

For you others out there who are just like me and cannot afford to take their animal to a vet, this can be very distressful! It's not that we don't care enough to go deeper in debt for them it's just that we just "can't" go deeper in debt...plain and simple!

Thankfully I have kids who do step in and are now helping me to save something that is very, very important to me! This morning PoD and I took Suki to see the vet!

The vet has physically checked her out and outwardly, she seems to be fine. She's not over or under weight, her gums are pink and her bladder is a normal size. She wasn't crazy about having a thermometer violate her but I was happy to see that she had no fever. The next recourse is to have blood work done up, urine tested, etc....meaning she has to stay overnight. I hated leaving her there to suffer all alone...I know what it's like to be shut up in a hospital...even if you are sick!

Now all we have to do is wait and see...

HALLOWEEN COSTUMES

My Mommy just happens to be the "Queen of Halloween" and she has always tried to get me to dress-up...no sir-e-e-e...not me!

Every times she tries, I fool her and just lay down!
I won't budge until she takes it off...nobody's gonna make a fool out of ME!
Thumber is even too smart to put up with that indignity! I guess were both smart & dignified cats!

I do have pictures of the foolish animals that don't mind...notice that they are mostly dogs?
Yup...never gonna be caught wearing anything like that...
I can be pretty scary dressing as myself!
